Witnessing the carnage of car accidents after avoiding them

Witnesses play a crucial role in many crash investigations. What many Ohio residents may not realize is that those individuals may have narrowly avoided being involved in the car accidents they witnessed. When this happens, they end up becoming part of the investigation as both a witness and a survivor. One driver ended up playing this dual role in the investigation of a recent crash on State Route 117. The driver managed to avoid becoming part of a three-vehicle crash that ended the lives of three people. Even though that person’s vehicle ended up in a field, she escaped without injury. The same could not be said for those involved in the carnage on the road. From what has been pieced together so far, a southbound vehicle veered into the oncoming lane of travel and slammed into a second vehicle. This information comes from the witness who managed to react quickly enough not to become part of the accident. A third vehicle was unable to avoid colliding with the second vehicle. The two people in the first vehicle died, along with one other person. Two people from the third vehicle required hospitalization for their injuries. The family of the deceased victim and the two injured parties may pursue restitution for the financial losses and other damages incurred as a result of this tragedy. If the evidence presented to an Ohio court in a wrongful death or personal injury claim, as applicable, proves negligence led to the death and injuries associated with this accident, the court may award damages. As is the case in other car accidents, evidence provided by the witness could prove critical in this pursuit.
