Car accidents: 4 injured in Ohio

A two-car crash in Clearcreek Township has sent four people to local hospitals, according to authorities on the scene. Ohio Highway Patrol has confirmed the head-on crash occurred in the early evening of Feb. 18. As with many car accidents, this one is still under investigation, and so far, no charges have been filed against anyone involved.According to the limited information available from the report, the crash occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Ohio 159. Apparently a vehicle driven by an unknown person was in the process of attempting to pass other vehicles on a two-lane stretch of highway. The unidentified driver appeared to be speeding when that individual’s vehicle smashed into a southbound vehicle head-on.The force of the impact sent all three occupants of the struck vehicle to local hospitals with varying injuries. The front passenger has been released from the hospital, suggesting only minor injuries, but the driver and back seat passenger remain in care. The passenger is said to be in critical condition, though that person has since been stabilized. The driver believed to have been at fault is in unknown condition. It seems likely that Ohio authorities may choose to file charges against the driver believed to have been speeding, considering his or her actions appear to have caused the crash. However, even if they do not pursue criminal charges, state law pertaining to car accidents causing injury or death allows the injured parties to file civil suits for personal injury against the driver. They are free to present any corroborating evidence gathered by police to support their claim in civil court.
