Parking lot auto-pedestrian accidents can result in fatalities

People here in Ohio and elsewhere do not often consider parking lots particularly dangerous. Vehicles are supposed to move slower and those walking to and from their vehicles have the right-of-way. While that may be the case, many auto-pedestrian accidents occur in parking lots, and some result in fatalities. For instance, on what seemed to be an ordinary Thursday afternoon, a 47-year-old man navigated his way through the parking lot of a McDonald’s in his area. He probably had no idea that this was not an ordinary day, or that it would be his last. Something went terribly wrong, and the man ended up trapped underneath a vehicle. When firefighters arrived at the scene, they needed to extricate the victim. Despite their efforts to save his life, he succumbed to his injuries before he could even be taken to a hospital. At last report, authorities were conducting an investigation into how the man ended up pinned underneath a vehicle. It could take some time before further information is revealed. Police need to determine whether the actions of the driver that day warrant criminal charges.Auto-pedestrian accidents often result in serious or deadly injuries, even in a parking lot. Even if officials rule this tragedy was an accident, his surviving family members still have an avenue for some closure and justice. They may file a wrongful death claim in an Ohio civil court seeking an award of damages to help with the financial losses associated with the death of their loved one.
